Hierarchical Space Tiling for Scene Modeling

چکیده
Three types of HST: square tiling (e.g., Quadtree and Spatial Pyramid), rectangular tiling (HST-RECT), triangular tiling (HST-TRI) Representation Given a set of scene configurations (scene label maps), we present a learning-by-parsing (EM-like) method to learn the HST representation including the branching probability at Or-nodes and the tiling dictionary. E-Step: fix HST and infer parse tree by dynamic programming M-Step: based on the inferred parse trees, estimate HST by Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE) Prune branches which has very low branching probability Learning

Hierarchical Space Tiling (HST) for scene classification and attribute localization
In this paper, we propose a representation named Hierarchical Space Tiling (HST) and a weakly supervised method for simultaneously leaning the scene configurations and attributes from a collection of natural images associated with attributes in text, where the precise localization of each attributes left unknown. We start with an over-complete HST which quantizes the huge and continuous scene c...

A typical scene category, e.g., street and beach, contains an enormous number (e.g., in the order of 10 to 10) of distinct scene configurations that are composed of objects and regions of varying shapes in different layouts. A well-known representation that can effectively address such complexity is the family of compositional models; however, learning the structures of the hierarchical composi...

A substitution tiling is a certain globally de ned hierarchical structure in a geometric space. In [6] we show that for any substitution tiling in En, n > 1, subject to relatively mild conditions, one can construct local rules that force the desired global structure to emerge. As an immediate corollary, in nite collections of forced aperiodic tilings are constructed. Here we give an expository ...

The creation of realistic, complex, and diversified virtual worlds is of utmost importance for video games. Unfortunately the amount of time required to create 3D scene contents can be extremely tedious to graphic artists. While procedural modeling can alleviate this task, it has mostly been developed for specific contexts. In this paper, we study tiling for synthetic worlds, taking into accoun...
متن کاملLessons from scene graphs: using scene graphs to teach hierarchical modeling
The scene graph, as defined in VRML and Java3D, is a powerful tool for modeling a scene. The ideas contained in the scene graph are fundamental principles in modeling. They give beginning computer graphics students the tools to understand and apply the techniques of hierarchical modeling in scene design and can be directly applied to graphics programming in several graphics APIs, including Open...
